ThreadWritten Viana Blouse
ThreadWritten Viana Blouse
Camisola with blue cotton embroidery and white gathered smocking on fine linen in the tradition of the “lavradeira” girl of Viana do Castelo, Portugal. This blouse was sewn and handstitched with care by a professional embroiderer in Viana.* It is a contemporary collaboration, with the addition of a “priest’s collar,” based on the traditional festive blouse that is still worn for holidays and special occasions in the Minho region of Portugal.
Size: Generous medium. 28.5 inches / 71 cm from shoulder to hem and 21.25 inches / 54 cm from one side-seam to the other across the chest. Snap closure on cuff and neckline.

*Visit Viana on retreat in August to learn directly from the woman who made this blouse and see hundreds of women on parade in traditional dress! Info HERE.
The last photo is from my first visit to the area in 2018– the inspiration for the ThreadWritten retreat.
