Transylvania Tour '23
We had a phenomenal experience in Hungary and Romania last month! Here are a few photos from the tour. Some of the many highlights included visiting Hungarian, Romanian, Saxon, and Roma people, including embroiderers, weavers, a woodcarver, and a coppersmith. We spent three days immersed in Kalotaszeg sewing culture, including individual írásos stitching lessons with local women. A couple of men also joined us– one helped with some cooking at our guest house and the other stitched a bit! Together, we ate delicious meals in family homes, toasted with pálinka and finished with cake. Two days in the Saxon region followed by a special stop at the Muzeul Textilelor closed the trip. Here are just a few images from nine packed days!
My wonderful local guide and our contacts are excited to create similar experiences with you next year! Join us for this special trip! 2024 dates and registration will be announced in September. You are welcome to email me to join the waitlist.
