Croatian Embroidered Clothing

Here are a few images of embroidered clothing from the Posavina, Moslavina, and Banovina regions of Croatia. Posavina, which had the greatest influence on nearby regions, encompasses the area around the Sava River which flows through Slovenia, Croatia and along its border with Bosnia and Herzegovina, and finally through Serbia, feeding into the Danube in Belgrade. Large scale, floral patterns satin-stitched in silk, intricate counted thread work, and white cutwork cover sleeves and aprons. Of course, there were many different styles of clothing in Croatia but these are particularly vibrant!

Enjoy!
