What’s Included

SPAIN: Single or shared room in 4-star hotels. One double bed or two twin beds and own bathroom.

HUNGARY/ROMANIA: Single or shared rooms with own bath in village guesthouses. One double bed or two twin beds and own bathroom.

PORTUGAL: 3-star resort hotel with a golf course and spa for the Viana tour and 4-star hotels in Lisbon and Évora. Single room with one double bed or shared room with two twin beds and own bathroom.

Three meals per day

Three meals per day are included with a couple exceptions during free time and other circumstances. Please refer to specific retreat itinerary. Breakfast will always be taken at the house or hotel. Lunches and dinners will be a mix of meals at the hotel with local restaurants in conjunction with workshops and outings. Water is included with meals. Alcohol is at your expense unless indicated on the itinerary (with meal or wine tasting).

Ground Transportation

ThreadWritten provides all participants transportation to and from our meeting point in Lisbon, Madrid, or Budapest (apart from our first afternoon in Budapest and Madrid sightseeing) and the retreat guest house or hotels, and all activities during the week. Even if the participant is not taking part in an event, they are welcome to travel with the group. If the participant would like to visit another location or attraction apart from planned group activities, they will be responsible for their own transportation.

Workshop Materials

Embroidery thread, needles, fabric, and other materials for workshops will be included. Feel free to bring your favorite supplies including embroidery hoops (They don’t use them in Portugal or Romania), and your own project in progress for travel or time on your own. If you usually use a magnifier or special light, please consider bringing packable versions with you (I can make recommendations if needed). We will have some stitching time in the evening.

What’s Not Included

Travel Insurance

ThreadWritten requires that all guests obtain travel insurance that provides cover for accidents, personal injury, loss of luggage, and cancellation of their itinerary. ThreadWritten is not liable for personal injury, death, damage to property, or other loss whether arising from accident, cancellation, delays, or any other matter beyond our control. Guests must provide proof of insurance 30 days before retreat start date.

Transportation

ThreadWritten fees do not include any air, land, or sea transportation prior to meeting in Budapest, Lisbon, or Madrid respectively. Participants are responsible for arranging their own transportation to our meeting point and back home at the conclusion of their stay. ThreadWritten does not recommend any specific transportation provider, and cannot be held responsible for any delays encountered during your travel, even if they cause you to miss part or all of your stay. No refund will be given for any portion of ThreadWritten services missed due to travel interruptions or delays. Having travel insurance mitigates any potential issues.

Food

Any other additional food consumed outside of the group meals is the participant’s responsibility.

Incidentals

Any expenses incurred by a participant in free time, when visiting an event, or participating in a group activity that are not explicitly mentioned in “What’s Included” (above) are the responsibility of the participant. This includes, but is not limited to, phone and outside internet fees, bicycle rental, souvenirs, personal items, medical expenses, and other expenses of a personal nature.

Pre/post-retreat arrival and departure planning

I recommend arriving at our meeting point city a day or two before the retreat begins so you can get acclimated. You may want to extend your trip a few extra days after the retreat ends, as well. ThreadWritten does not provide hotel arrangements outside of the retreat itself but will gladly inform and advise.

Payment

Deposit: $1000 is due upon registration to reserve your place. The deposit is not refundable.

The remaining payment is due 90 days before the retreat start date.

You must cancel your registration in writing by postal mail or scanned signed document attached to email. Cancellations cannot be accepted by phone or email message. The effective date of cancellation will be the postmark on your letter of notification or the date of receipt of scanned document.

Cancellations are subject to the following fees:

The $1000 deposit, due upon registration, is nonrefundable.

No refunds will be issued for cancellations received 45 days before arrival.

If you are owed a refund of fees paid, it will be transferred within 30 days of receipt of your cancellation notice.

If ThreadWritten is forced to cancel a trip for any unforeseen circumstance beyond reasonable control, such as, but not limited to, acts of nature, health epidemic or pandemic, war, earthquake, flooding, etc., ThreadWritten will give the Retreat Participant options for a full credit of trip payments made, or a refund of the final retreat payment. Participants’ deposits are non-refundable and cover deposits paid to suppliers.

ThreadWritten reserves the right to cancel any retreat at any time for any reason, including if there are too few participants, or if the quality of the trip or the safety of travelers is judged to be compromised. In such cases, a refund of full payment, received by ThreadWritten shall constitute full and final settlement. If ThreadWritten cancels due to low enrollment, your deposit will be refunded.

Again, travel insurance is required to attend. It protects your investment in the tour and your transportation costs.

If, for any reason, a Tour Participant leaves a trip once it has begun, ThreadWritten is not obliged to issue any refund, credit, or compensation.
